Places to Go in Malvern, Pennsylvania With the Kids During Christmas

Malvern is a small town in southeast Pennsylvania that dates back to the Vistorian era. Malvern is 1.3 square miles and only has a population of 3,200, but has no shortage of family destinations and activities. This small town's boutique shops, coffee houses and restaurants are bustling year-round, but during Christmas, families can visit several holiday attractions.

Malvern's Victorian Christmas

Each year Malvern celebrates it's Victorian routes, and a weekend-long festival of holiday activities, food and shopping occurs. Activities include caroling, horse and carriage rides, ice carving demonstrations and pony rides. Children can make gingerbread houses and other festive crafts at the children's workshops. The entire family can enjoy live music and magic shows. Of course, no Christmas spectacular would be complete without a visit from Santa.

Power Play Rinks

Chester County's public ice-skating rink is located in nearby Exton. This rink is open to the public several days a week. Skating beginners can take lessons from experienced instructors. Figure skating and ice hockey classes are also available. Power Play Rinks is located at 701 Haywood Drive, Exton, Pa 19341. For more information visit their website www.skatepowerplay.com or contact them at 610-458-9160.

Windridge Farm

Windridge Farm is located in Chester Springs, less then ten miles north of Malvern. This Christmas tree farm allows guests to pick out and cut down their own Christmas tree. Children can enjoy horse, wagon and tractor rides while parents tour the gift shop and browse the farm's selection of handmade wreaths and greens. Kids can visit with Santa on the weekends, and the entire family can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and coffee. Windridge Farm is located on 1049 Bartlett Lane in Chester Springs. For more information guests can call 610-469-9299 or visit their website, www.cutyourownchristmastree.net.

Tioga Railroad

Wellsboro is a four hour drive from Malvern, but the Tioga Central Railroad's Santa Express is a holiday treat that may be worth the ride. During the holiday season Tioga Central Railroad offers a Santa Express railroad excursion. This one hour train ride includes hot cocoa and a special gift from Santa. Tioga Central Railroad takes guests to the "North Pole" where they pick up Santa Claus and bring him back to Wellsboro. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a blanket on this evening ride where festive holidays lights illuminate the train. Located at the intersection of PA 287 and Muck Road, visitors can gather more information about Tioga Railroad from their website, www.tiogacentral.com, or by calling 570-724-0990.
